FAQ
Q. If we are thinking about a building project, when should we start talking to a fundraising consultant?
A. Immediately. It is crucial that you know how much your church is likely to raise before engaging an architect or builder. Architectural drawings done before knowing the financial potential of the church must often be modified, sometimes significantly.
Q. Why should we use fund raising counsel? We believe that we can do the fundraising on our own.
A. While it is true that some churches can raise money without help, it is extremely rare that these efforts reach the maximum fund raising potential of the congregation. If mistakes are made in the fund raising process, it is very difficult to repeat a campaign once it gets into difficulty. Our philosophy is to come alongside the local church and coach them through the process.
Q. Is there a simple rule of thumb to determine how much a church can raise?
A. There are some general guidelines, but each church is unique. It is only through a financial assessment that we can accurately determine how much a church is likely to raise during a campaign.
Q. What do we do if we have a general idea of a need to expand but are not clear on the future vision of the church?
A. This is very common. We believe that fundraising should always be done in the context of a clearly identified mission and future vision. When this is not yet clear, we offer consulting services in the areas of core values, mission clarification and developing a picture of a preferred future and strategic initiatives. Each of our staff have extensive experience with local church ministry as well as fundraising expertise.
Q. What about the issue of stewardship education?
A. Ongoing stewardship education is critical to the financial and spiritual health of the church. We can help you plan a stewardship education curriculum with a long-term emphasis.
