Steve Johnson, VP - Campaigns & Consulting 

Steve's expertise includes capital campaigns, vision building and strategic planning. He uses his gifts and talents to help churches and ministries by focusing on 1) mission & vision clarification, 2) strategic planning and 3) fundraising through a biblical lens. Throughout his work, Steve displays a great desire for creating environments where ministries can excel. 

Joining Ministry Campaign Services in 1997, now called CIF Campaigns & Consulting, Steve has extensive experience in fundraising and brings understanding of the funding process, church leadership and God at work through the EFCA today. Steve is a member of Five Oaks Evangelical Free Church, in Woodbury, MN where he attends with his wife Deb.

Cary Linder, Senior Campaign Consultant

Before coming to CIF, Cary spent the last 14 years as executive director of the Hutchinson Health Foundation, giving him broad-based experience as a professional development officer. In this role, Cary led the Annual Fund, as well as major capital campaigns for the construction of a cancer center and the Harmony River Living Center.

In addition, Cary’s experience in project management and overseeing multi-million-dollar construction projects helps him guide churches and ministries through each stage of their capital campaign. As a senior campaign consultant, Cary coaches and walks alongside local congregations throughout the entire capital campaign process—from planning to completion.

David Viland, Senior Campaign Consultant

David’s expertise includes biblically-focused campaigns, church leadership guidance and Mission & Vision Clarification. He also facilitates strategic planning sessions and provides church governance training. David’s clients have told him his Strength Finders (Maximizer – Belief – Connectedness – Developer – Arranger) fit him very well in his role.

Before joining the team in 2006, David was an Administrative Pastor for his church and experienced first-hand a capital campaign with CIF. Due to his passion for seeing the local church vibrant in its mission, David joined CIF as a Senior Campaign Consultant. He brings over 30 years of fundraising experience with projects ranging from $25,000 to $6 million. Living and serving in rural, urban and suburban settings has given David a unique understanding to work in a variety of ethnic and cultural settings. David and his wife, Donna, are members of New Hope Church in New Hope, MN. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
