A smooth process with a church addition project, prompt CIF responses to questions and a solid ongoing relationship are facets shared by an elder and a primary staff contact at Redemption Chapel, an evangelical church in Stow, Ohio.
“It was an easy process, with favorable loan conditions,” said Elder Cory Potozcek. “That’s one of the things that got us involved and interested in CIF.”
Stow is a suburb of Akron, which has a metropolitan population of about 700,000. The church serves as a beacon to the community.
Its vision statement centers on real life, and is displayed prominently in and on its building. “Watching Jesus write countless stories of redemption for messy people like us.”
The match with CIF was obvious, as the church seeks to know Jesus personally, grow in relationship with Him and go advance his Kingdom.
“One of the things we say a lot is that we take God seriously, but we don’t take ourselves that seriously,” said Lead Pastor Rick McKee. “That’s a big part of our flavor.”
The business and financial side of the church undergirds operations, and this is where staff have noticed a difference in working with CIF.
Office, HR and Finance Manager Angela Charvat has run finances at the church for more than three years. “My experiences I’ve had with CIF have been wonderful,” she said. “I’ve enjoyed working with everybody on staff there who I’ve been interacting with.”
While at her son’s baseball practice, she needed something specific for an audit and CIF responded quickly. “It’s always the day of and I’ve never had an experience when I’ve asked for something and had to wait for an extended period,” she said. “It’s usually within no more than 24 hours.”
Several years ago, the church had a successful capital campaign, raising funds for a new worship center, with CIF loaning the remaining funds needed for the project.
“Managing the loan, managing the releases for construction, very smooth in the day-to-day operations,” said Potozcek. “They’re easy to work with and we’ve been very happy with them.”

Some people never stop learning. We at CIF see this is crucial to our continued success. That’s why Curiosity is among the Core Values we ascribe to. Some may remember a little monkey who exhibited this value, one we read about in children’s books. President and CEO Scott Achterling explains.
